About Common Chord

Common Chord has been serving musicians of all types since 2002.

Tracy Jane Comer, proprietor and engraving (notation) specialist, is an award winning professonal musician. She has advanced training in music theory (undergraduate and graduate study) plus personal experience in many styles of music including classical (solo and chamber music), choral, liturgical, folk, pop/rock, jazz, country, and musical theater.

Tracy has several published recordings of her original contemporary acoustic music, plus several recordings with collaborative projects in classical, folk, and pop/rock and Americana styles. Her multi-instrumental abilities (cello, guitar, piano, fiddle, dulcimer) and vocal skills (lead and harmonizing) have made her a much sought after guest artist for recordings and performances by other artists.

You can read more about Tracy and hear some of her music at her web site.

A Word from Tracy: "My work with Common Chord is a perfect marriage of my passion for music, my computer skills, and my love of puzzles. I enjoy working with musicians of all types and thrive on the challenge of analyzing music and notating it accurately while making it look good on the page. Music engraving is art in itself and I'm very proud of my work. As a performing musician myself I know what it's like to be on the user's end of the printed page, and so I aim to give my clients scores that I would want to work with myself."

Instruments: Tracy's primary professional instruments are piano, acoustic guitar, electric bass, cello, and fiddle. She is particularly known for her guitar skills, having won awards and appeared in Guitar Player magazine. She also performs and records on hammered dulcimer and has studied and performs on occasion on drums (kit). She has a good working knowledge of other instruments from her experience in arranging/orchestration, participation in ensembles and chamber music groups, and extensive accompanying work. Currently she is a professional performer as a soloist and with several groups/bands.
Computer Skills: Tracy is an avid computer enthusiast with advanced computer skills and training in many software programs. She holds a second bachelor's degree in Computer Sciences and a Certificate in Web Development from Madison College. Tracy was an "early adopter" in digital music notation, having worked with some of the earlist software programs back in the early 1990s. Tracy's computer work apart from music has included database administration, website development and management, general computer support, software education, and nonprofit management in the areas of information services and administrative support. She continually updates her skills in many technical areas and is a member of the International Webmasters Association.
